Exotic Pet Care Schedule
When you first become the owner of an exotic animal, you should bring your new pet to Ridglea West Animal Hospital for an
Exotic Pet Exam which includes:
Collection of Background Information
- Identification of species, gender, and age
- Body weight with medical grade digital scale
- Documentation of indoor or outdoor housing
- Review of diet
- Reproductive history
- Examination of transport container
- Analysis of droppings
- Evaluation of historical grooming techniques for the wings, nails, beaks, and tails
- Relevant pet husbandry issues
A Physical Examination of:
- Eyes, ears and nasal passages
- Internal body systems via touch analysis
- Beak or mouth
- Feathers, scales, or skin
- Neck, pectoral, and abdomen
- Limb and wing mobility
- Musculature tone
- Legs and joints
- Back and tail base
Blood work up where necessary or practical.
